Workplacement Notice Reminder

Dear students

those of you who are starting a work placement in the summer, or think that you are nearly done with your work placement and are expecting your presentation schedule soon, this is a reminder that you cannot progress through work placement without contacting Leslie Shoemaker.
Leslie assumes that you still regularly check your DIT email address, and she uses it to make contact with you.

The work placement process document is permanently attached to the left pane of this blog and would have been distributed several times already. We expect that this is familiar material.

If you fail to contact Leslie Shoemaker, your work placement won't be counted towards your higher diploma.

Kind regards

Important - Confirming Registration for DT265 / DT8265 and DT265A students on Springboard website

This is for the attention of *all* students who are funded through ICT Skills / Springboard and began with us in the 2016-2017 academic year.

You are all asked to please log in to the Springboard website and confirm your status as being either first registered or re-registered on your programme. Depending on your programme you will either need to make a 'first registration' or a 're-registration'. Below I have listed which form of registration applies to you:
  • Higher Diploma in Science in Computing [ICT Skills Conversion]  (September 2016)            DT265   - For Re-registration
  • Higher Diploma in Science in Computing [ICT Skills Conversion]  (January 2017)            DT8265  (DT265 Jan) - For First-registration
  • Higher Diploma in Science in Computing [ICT Skills Conversion]  (September 2016)            DT265A (part-time) - For Re-registration)
Some of you may have done this already. However we would be grateful if all students could check / confirm your registration. This has to be done by Tuesday 9th of May by close of business. Failure to do so could leave you liable for fees.

The process should take no longer than 5 minutes. The terminology below makes reference to Springboard students, but please note that the same instructions apply to students such as DT8265 students who are applied for through the ICT Skills programme.

The process is as follows:
  1. Students who began in the Spring and who are still in progress should log in to www.springboardcourses.ie using their email address and password [both required].
2.      Each participant should click on their email address which is displayed towards the top right hand side of the screen and select “Applications” from the resulting drop-down menu.

  1. The participant will see all courses to which s/he has applied in 2016/2017. Beside the course they are currently registered on, they see an orange button/link marked “Re-register” or 'register' or similar.
  2. On clicking on this register button/link, they will be asked to confirm that they remain enrolled on this course.
  3. If the student is still enrolled on and intends to complete her/his course, s/he must click ‘OK’ to confirm this intent. This completes the reregistration process and the AMS database is updated. The screen will refresh and their registration status will be changed to “Confirmed”.
If a participant does not initially register or re-register throughwww.springboardcourses.ie, no further funding is paid on their behalf by the HEA.

Please note that this is very important and should be prioritised by all students. Please ensure that this is done by Tuesday 9th of May.
